Sweet Frog Frozen Yogurt opens 2 new Reno stores

Fro-yo fiends now have two more places to get their swirl on in Reno.

Sweet Frog Frozen Yogurt, recently named one of America’s best frozen yogurt chains by the Daily Meal, is expanding into a pair of locations previously occupied by U-Swirl, another chain.

The new stores, at 175 Damonte Ranch Parkway in South Reno and 2870 Northtowne Lane in North Reno, became Sweet Frogs on July 1.

Sweet Frog is known for build-your-own swirls featuring frozen yogurt in dozens of flavors (mint cookie, birtthday cake, passion orange guava), and toppings in dozens of styles (mochi, mango poppers, pound cake) — all of which makes for confections ranging from classic to crazy.

Play areas
Franchisees Larry Copponi and Gary Ricco also own the Sweet Frog locations on Vista Boulevard in Sparks and in the Total Wine center in South Reno.

“We’re excited to welcome new and returning customers to our newest Sweet Frog stores,” Ricco said. “This summer, we’re reconnecting with the community, including local high schools, families and frozen yogurt fans of all ages.”

According to a statement by the company, the new stores will feature subtle interior design changes and play centers for children, as well the weekly specials (including free yogurt Mondays for moms and dads) already offered by the first two shops.

Sweet Frog was founded in 2009 and is based in Richmond, Va. The company has 340 stores and mobile units in 27 states and the Dominican Republic. Besides frozen yogurts, Sweet Frog als offers gelato and ice cream.
